The horse's hoof becomes dry and flaky. It can take some time for it to heal. If it is a very bad case of thresh it may never heal but again it would have to be bad for that to happen.
Your horses feet are cracking because of lack of moisture. You should go to your local tack store and get Hoof Heal it restores natural oils in the hoof. Hope this helps! :)

depends on age etc but about 4 weeks
The word you want is FOUNDER (No L in it). Founder is when the sensitive laminae of the hoof begins or completely seperate. Mild founder will lay a horse up for awhile, but severe founder can take a year or more to heal (if it ever does) Many times the cause is illness, high fever and sometimes injury. A lot of horses will founder after colic. Flounder is a FISH
This all depends. If your horse is allowed to move around in some sort of large enclosure all the time, he will heal faster because the horse needs exercise to get the metabolism going better, and to heal, the horse needs increased metabolism. While some people say you need to immobilize the horse to prevent further bruising, this is wrong. The horse needs to move to increase metabolism to increase healing.
I would suggest an ice pack and lots of rest!
