Follow the directions for installing a 7-way trailer wiring harness found atwww.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. I usually don't like do-it-yourself projects, but Advance Auto Parts sells a kit with color-coded wires that made it an easy project.
Not all trucks are built with a trailer harness plug. If you can not find one, then your truck does not have one and you need to install one.

The 2001 Chevrolet Camaro ignition switch is held in place with a retaining ring. Remove the retaining the ring and slide the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

Begin by removing the retaining ring at the top of your 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo ignition switch. The ignition switch barrel will slide out. Remove the wiring harness from the end of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install your new ignition switch.
