How to install a oil pump for a 1993 Ford Taurus?

Depending on the engine (2.5L/3.0L/3.0L SHO/3.2L SHO/3.8L) they are all a little different but they all start with 1) Disconnect the negative battery cable follwed by "remove the oil pan"(except the 3.8 L)following this if you have a 2.5 you proceed to step 2

2) Disconnect the oil pump attaching bolts, then remove the oil pump and intermediate driveshaft.

3)prime the oil pump by filling the inlet port with engine oil. Rotate the pump shaft until oil flows from the outlet port

4)If the screen and cpver assembly have been removed, replace the gasket. Clean and reinstall the screen and cover assembly, then tighten the attaching bolts.

5) Position the intermediate driveshaft into the distributor socket

6. Insert intermediate driveshaft into oil pump. Install pump and shaft as an assembly*

*Do NOT attempt to force the pump into position if it will not seat. The shaft hex may be misaligned with the distributor shaft. to align remove the oil pump and rotate the intermediate driveshaaft into a new position

7)Tighten the oil pump attaching bolts to 15-22 ft lbs(20-30Nm)

8)Install the oil pan

9)Fill the crankcase with the correct viscosity and amount of oil, then connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks.
