I think you should get a new car or at least call a mechanic. As long as you see it then there should be a couple of bolts and the cable on the terminal and that's all there is to it. Just make sure it's seated right.
Get some tool's and pull it out install new starter!
I was looking at one of the Ford websites , and for a 1996 Ford Explorer 4.0 litre V6 : It lists two different part numbers for a starter depending on whether it is an automatic or manual transmission
On a 1996 Ford Explorer : ( r134a )
No , the 4.0 L V6 engine in a 1996 Ford Explorer is an OHV not a SOHC
On the 4.0 liter OHV , V6 engine the starter is on the drivers side of the engine , low down , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine
how do you manually close a sunroof in a 1996 ford explorer.
yes!! by the starter and put it in!
On a 1995 Ford Explorer : ( fuse # 24 is a 15 amp mini fuse for the starter relay )
Where is the tensioner located on a 1996 Ford Explorer V6 XLT?
IF YOU MEAN DOES NOT TURN OVER WITH THE KEY,IT IS THE STARTER THAT YOU HIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
The transmissions from 1991 - 1994 are the same. So the 1991 transmission will not fit a 1996 explorer.
The starter solenoid is mounted directly to the starter.
