You'll have to get in touch with someone who works for the AKC (American Kennel Club). You'd need to know who the sire and dam are and any other pertinent info needed. If the parents aren't registered, then the dog will not be eligible either. That's the best place to start.

∙ 16y agoThe dog's breeder should either provide you with a slip that you must mail in to the respective kennel club, or sometimes register the dog themself and transfer the papers to you. I've seen it done both ways. However, if both parents were not registered with a legitimate registering body, then the puppy would be ineligible.
