Whew, what a pain this was! Ok, Manual or Automatic.... i have a manual so that is what these instructions are for. Unscrew manual shift knob. Grab the inside of the manual boot gripping the base plactic. Pull up. It will take a little bit of strength but the plastic will pop out. once you have done that you must unscrew the two visible screws. After removeing the two visible screws. Look on the passanger and drive side for the plastic pins. You have to push the middle of the screw in to retract the legs to remove it. There should be one on each side. after that has been done at the back of the console you should be able to pop the whole backing off. There may be another screw inside the bottom of the console this is accessable through the back opening that you have just created. After this has been done. You will be able to remove the complete console includeing the cup holders all at once. Make sure you have all your parts and remember where they go. Ok, so now console-less you can move onto the CD player. If you look in the gap where your cup holders were and look up towards your CD player you will see two screws. You must unscrew these. Next, remove the ac knobs by pulling them off. next you should use somthing flat and wide. I used a wide flat painters tool. However something wide extremely flat and possibly plastic should be used. You have to wedge it in between the plastic of your boarding ac - CD units and pop it up. Be careful though because this may place dents into your dashboard. After you have popped all the pins that do just pop back in you will be able to remove the CD unit. A waireing harness for the civic came in handy. It allows you to revet back the the stock if you ever decide to for whatever reason. Change out the player and follow these instructions in reverse putting back everything to complete the install.
