Sorry . . . acetone, which is the main ingrediant of nail polish remover is a solvent, not any kind of a coating. The disc is most likely permanently ruined: the acetone melted the plastic faces of the disc.
You can use nail polish remover to remove most permanent markers off a disc.
Most home remedies do not work and there are professional machines that can polish the disc. It is better to replace the disc and not try to remove the scratches

You can go to gamestop.com and search for disc scratch remover. If you do not find it there, search it on SHOPPING on Google.
Just be careful that film you are talking about is not your UV layer, you need that. The smartest approach is a non abrasive solution. an acrylic lens deoxidizer. That will not remove the film but it will remove the light blocking oxidation that is covering the film. The least expensive and so far the best, better than any of the ones that I paid good money for at an auto parts store, is to simply clean the lens with cotton balls and nail polish remover (acetone). This worked great when the lens is hazey. If the lens is really bad then you can use either a plastic polish or a very fine sand paper or polishing compound. I found a kit from 3M for $16 that has 500 and 800 grit sandpaper disc and two different buffing wheels that go on a drill. It also comes with polishing compound. Took me about 15 minutes and I took the yellow film off my 1997 headlights and made them look brand new, not too mention the drastic improvement of lighting up the road at night.
use a fine polish, and a piece of clean cloth or tissue and rub from the outer edge of the disc to the inside, don't go in circles around the disc. should remove dirt and smooth over scratches. It worked on one of my scratched ps2 games. Hope this helps
