Not an easy task since you have to remove the Front Bumper Cover to get access to it. Once that's done, remove the electrical connectors, the screws and the Headlight Assembly.
From under the hood, twist off the cover behind the headlight, then turn the collar that holds the bulb in place. Remove the bulb and replace it, reversing the above directions. DON'T TOUCH THE GLASS ON THE NEW BULB, DIRT OR GREASE WILL CAUSE IT TO BURN OUT QUICKLY.

Open the 2001 Subaru engine compartment hood. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the headlight. Remove the headlight assembly bolts. The headlight will come out. Reverse the process to install the new headlight.

Remove both converters, install the new ones. Don't forget the "donut" gaskets.
Remove Front Grille. Remove Electrical Connectors. Remove Bolts (3 ea). Pull out Headlight Assembly.
You have to remove the console cover. This starts with two screws in the console storage tray.
Access from under the front corner of the car. Remove or push small plastic cover out of the way. Unplug bulb and rotate to remove.
Remove Glove Box & Access Panel. Disconnect Blower Motor Electrical Plug & Aspirator Hose. Remove screws & Motor. Install in reverse order.....
To replace the headlight assembly on a 2006 Jetta, remove the front grill. Then remove the headlight assembly by taking off the screws that secure it in place. Replace with new.Ê
You just unscrew the bolts and it falls right out on the ground.
