The rear gate panel is very easy to remove. You will need a panel remover or a paint scrapper or something flat to pull panel off. Also you will need a screw driver to remove a few screws. Be careful not to break or lose any parts. Good luck...

remove the bolts holding on the plastic paneling under the steering wheel in the interior. remove the two bolts connecting the hood release latch from this plastic panel. then remove the panel. the circuit opening relay is under this panel, and is green(in my 1997 tacoma).

first remove the rear fascia then remove the tail lamp panel to gain access to the tailamps. the service manual claims that there is a panel that can be removed from the interior on my 2000 gts except there is no removable panels. Maybe on the r/t model. good luck
