It's looking for a Boot Disk. For some reason the computer can't find an operating system. Either your HD is dying or has died or the HD got corrupted. Boot into your MacOS installer DVD and see if you can "Repair disk" and see if that helps if not then you may have to buy DiskWarrior or similar disk repair program to save it. You did back up your disk didn't you?

An installation cd/dvd is essential in order to repair the start-up disk. The Mac needs a booting platform & this cd/dvd provides exactly the same. One cannot repair the boot partition while initiating the system from it.
