Clymer repair manual (p. 235) says the following:
STARTER SOLENOID
Removal/Installation
1. Remove the seat and both side covers.
2. Disconnect the negative battery lead.
3. Slide off the rubber protective boots and disconnect the electrical wires from the top solenoid terminals.
4. Remove the solenoid from the rubber mounting receptacle on the frame.
5. Install by reversing these removal steps, noting the following.
6. If installing a new solenoid, transfer the fuse holder from the old solenoid to the new solenoid.
