To replace the AC belt which is separate from the serpentine belt on a Chevy 2500 V8 6 liter do the following:
Turn the AC switch on the dash to the off setting. Remove the bottom cover under the engine. Remove the air intake pipe from the filter box to the top front of the engine intake. Loosen the serpentine belt by putting a wrench on the idle pulley bolt on the front top of the passenger side of the engine and pushing downward to take pressure off the belt. While doing this, you can slip the serpentine belt from under the idle pulley thereby creating the slack needed to remove the belt from the main engine crankshaft pulley. Carefully let the idle pulley back up into position as it's spring is very strong. You can get hurt if not careful.
Now from under the front of the engine, slip the serpentine belt off the engine crankshaft pulley. Before installing a new belt, be sure your AC compressor has not frozen up by turning the clutch by hand. If it has, it will just break a new belt instantly upon starting the engine. Put the new belt over the AC compressor pulley. Using a 3/8 driver, move the AC idle pulley enough to get the belt over the crankshaft pulley and under the idle pulley.
Now, put the serpentine belt in place as much as possible from the underside. Go back to the wrench on the idle pulley on top of the engine, apply enough pressure to allow putting the serpentine belt in place. Replace the air intake pipe. Make sure all tools are out of the engine area. Start the engine and turn on the AC. If everything is ok, turn off the engine and replace the bottom pan.
Take it off and put on a new one
The 3.3L has a timing chain. The serpentine belt (accessory belt) is removed by rotating the tensioner down.
Loosen the tensioner pulley on your Monte Carlo 3.1 liter engine. Slide the tensioner pulley to the right. The serpentine belt can be removed. Put the new serpentine belt on and slide the tensioner pulley to the left.

of'course
Replace plugs and filters, change fluids, replace serpentine belt. Plugs are replaced by removing fuel rails, removing coil packs over plugs, then changing plugs.
There is a switch close to the brake switch on the colum under the dash that has gone bad and needs to be replace.
it has a 327 or 5.3 liter
No, the LS2 is an all aluminum 6.0 liter engine. The 5.3L engine in the 2000 Silverado is an LM7 version of the Vortec 5300.
The 6.0 liter in a Chevy Silverado is 364 cubic inches
There is a idle pully that you put a socket and rachet on and rotate it so that it takes the tension off the belt.
I had some minor work done to my 04 and it cost about 200.00 to replace them!
