As minecraft looks for "minecraft.jar" in your "application data" folder, it is impossible to "move" or "copy" any file from there into a new location and run it from there.
There has however been a "minecraft portable" mod, which allows for movement of the .minecraft folder.
On a PC, you:
1. Go to the start menu and search 'Run'
2. type '%appdata% and click run or go or whatever it says in the corner
3. click on the .minecraft folder and go to saves
4. Drag the world save you want to your desktop or wherever you want it
5. Transfer it to other computer
6. Do the same process, but instead of taking a world save, drag the first one in.
NOTE: Make sure they are different worlds and don't overwrite your current ones. This may cause you to rage.
On a Mac, I think its the same way expect you have to look in your application support folder for the one named 'minecraft'.
In your Minecraft folder in My Computer there should be a folder should levels or something similar. move the file of the save into that folder and then boot up Minecraft
Hope this helped
Locate your Minecraft folder, then find your save file. Copy and paste this onto your hard drive. Minecraft is installed in your AppData folder (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\.minecraft\) The saves folder should be in the .minecraft folder.
They go to the screenshots folder in the .minecraft folder. Click "Start" and search for "Run". Type in %appdata% and press enter. Find the .minecraft folder and look for the screenshots folder.
It could. If you want to save it then go to the save folder and make a duplicate or drag it into another folder and move it to your desktop, Documents or whatever folder.
Look into the .minecraft folder for a folder called saves. Copy that file or secure it in some other way and then replace it with the other saves file in your new .minecraft folder. And By The Way, YOU'RE WELCOME
A folder called .minecraft
The saves folder is in a hidden folder in application data called .minecraft. The directory to the folder is: My documents/Application Data/.minecraft. There is a folder in .minecraft called saves which contains your saved worlds. If this folder does not exist, then perhaps you have not yet played any worlds on that computer or somebody has deleted the folder.
First, go to the Minecraft folder. Go to the save files. Copy the world you want, and paste it back in. This will copy the world, and make a duplicate.
You go to run. Type %appdata%, then into the Roaming folder, into .minecraft, then saves, then pick the world you want to delete, right click and delete.
The minecraft.jar folder ( in the bin folder, in the .minecraft folder, in the application data folder) note, you will need to use an extracting program like winzip to open the folder
It means, that your account is hacked. delete your .minecraft folder (backup save files) and change your password on minecraft.net. Redownload minecraft and it´ll work.
Ask who ever is hosting the server "cupquake" for the world seed. Then put it in your save folder.
Just go to the .minecraft folder and go to the texture packs folder and delete the zip file. If the texture pack is inside minecraft.jar, too bad for you. You'll just have to make a recovery folder for your saves, delete all the minecraft files and re-download the game.I think as of 1.6 and above (final game, not beta) the resourcepacks folder is now where you put or remove the Texturepacks. There is also no more .bin folder to worry about. Do not fool with any of the other folders as Mojang has pretty much done a rewrite of most of the game so there are only a couple of folders you can change things in now.Don't forget to save your world saves folder before you reinstall Minecraft, you may also want to do a search on which folder you need to save for all your experience points, statistics, Achievements, etc, if you want to save them.On a Mac go to your User Library, Application Support, minecraft folder, everything is in there.
