You need to cycle the key on and off several times to get the gas to the injectors.you should be able to hear a whining noise at key up. if you have to get some one to turn the key and you get as close as possible to the fuel tank. you should hear the pump scream for about 3 seconds and it turns off until you crank the engine. if you don't hear the pump comming on and when you ran out of gas and cranked and cranked and cranked you probably burned the pump up. this high pressure pumps use the gas to keep them cool. no liquid in the tank and pump gets hot, then pump burns up,.
And ur filter is destroyed...GM's are also notorious with this problem...ENJOY!
