Disconnect the negative battery cable and then hold the brake down for about a minute. Be careful when doing this, be sure you have the code to unlock the radio. I personally have not had problems with the radio when clearing codes. If the light doesn't reset try it for a longer period of time or take it to Autozone to see if they will clear it with their scantool.

It means check your transmission, why not start with the oil.
