If you accepted the role where nightshifts we already a part of the job description then its a little uncomfortable however, you can give an honest reason. It maybe that the shift pattern is impacting on your home life sufficiently to cause great difficulty, it could be that its impacting on your health (not everyone can cope with shift patterns. This is proven) it may also be that you stated the role and there were not shifts to content with and this was the reason for taking the role on.
You could ask to speak to a manager in confidence and explain any or all of the above as there may be other shifts that could be offered or swapped.
Be honest, give valid factual reasons and close the resignation by thanking the company - never burn bridges in employment as you never know when you need a way back
