How violent is Cape Town?

Its known to be violent. Late at night people don't stop at red traffic lights because that's where the gangs steal cars... at lights when you stop. Many of the gangs have automatic weapons. The whole of Africa is a weapons dump for Russia and China and the guns filter down and into the gangs of South Arica. We have a close friend from Cape Town and this is what she says.
