Because the Ethiopian army wasn't well trained and theequipment was to old and they were not able to defend themselves against musterdgas and airattacks. The Italians had 10 times as many soldiers. And because the international agreement within the league of nations to help any country that would come under attack, in this case Ethiopia, would get help from the international community. But they didn't intervene. (excuse my for my English)
