some scientists are starting to think that the earth was once separated and then over millions of years the continents came together as one forming Pangaea which is the Latin root meaning and i quote "all earth." when i was in fifth grade we learned about Pangaea and it happens to be the mantel that formed Pangaea! the mantel moves like an ocean current and the crust (the land part of earth) floats on it so that is how Pangaea formed i hope my answer helped you understand it a little bit better!! :)
200 million years ago
Well you can say that the world called once Pangea, but it's the continents that were once called Pangea. Pangea is a HUGE LANDMASS. Pangea is when all the continents were once connceted and formed huge landmass.
Pangea formed in the carboniferous period
Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras about 250 million years ago
Pangea was the original landmass of Earth so it was probably formed when Earth formed.
Pangea was one of the original continents when earth was formed.

Existing during the Paleozoic and some of the Mesozoic era, the super continent in Pangea was formed about 300 million years ago. Pangea separated about 200 million years ago.
Pangea formed in the carboniferous period
After pangea, the ancient super-continent, spread out.
When the super-continent Pangea began separating into separate continents, the Atlantic Ocean formed from Panthalassa (which was the ocean surrounding Pangea.)
