Queen Isabella of Castile was a major supporter of Humanistic education in Spain and Portugal during her lifetime. In fact the Royal Court of Spain held at least two classical schools, again which Isabella supported and helped come to fruition.

Most noble women of the time period WERE tutored, they could read and do figures, they learned languages and diplomacy; as well as more domestic subjects- all in the expectation of them someday playing their royal parts.
