∙ 11y agothe banished young minister named Roger Williams.from the Massachusetts bay colony.belived that no man should support a church in which he did not believe in and a person broke the law of that church should be punished for .hid and bought land to start a colony in providence in 1636.others who where driven out becuse of religion moved south ward and be came the colony of road Island . where every man was alowed to think ,believe, and teach what he pleased.

∙ 12y agoRoger Williams founded Rhode Island in 1636 because Puritan leaders in Massachusetts worried that Roger's ideas might hurt the unity of Massachusetts,so the leaders made him leave.Then, he took his supporters and founded Providence which later turned into Rhode Island.
