The allies had 3 sectors and the Russians one. The allies sectors became West Germany and the Russian became East Germany. The Russians built the Berlin Wall to keep people IN East Germany and from going to the west. They had soldiers with guns, gun towers, a no man's land, and barb wire, but people did escape through various ways. The crossing point between east and west was the Brandenburg Gate and it was an armed on both sides.
