However, James already bit Bella, so she had venom in her system, and Edward had to suck it out. This was enormously difficult for him because Bella's blood tasted so good to him, but he managed to stop. Then Bella was taken to the hospital because James had injured her a lot. The story the Cullens came up with to explain it was that clumsy Bella fell down stairs and out a window.
