How was the childhood of Marie Antoinette?

Marie Antoinette was born an Archduchess of Austria. She had a fairly simple childhood, and little education, as was the norm for girls at that time. However, she played many musical instruments.

She considered hr childhood as a very happy one, although her mother (the Empress of Austria) barely spent any time on her and wasn't the most loving mother (she was mainly very strict). Because she was the 15th child in the family, most of the attention of her mother went out to the older children who she arranged marriages for. That caused Marie Antoinette to grow up very freely. Also, the Viennese court hardly had any etiquette. She would always remember her younger years as the happiest she had ever had.

Marie Antoinette was a member of the Habsburg Royal Family threw her mother Marie Theresa. Because of this she is a direct descendant of Catherine of Aragon's sister Joanna of Castile and her husband Phillip. This means that she is a direct descentant of Isabelle and Ferdinand who were Joanna and Catherine's parents. Through her father she is related to the French Royal Family.
