water is continually renewed through the process known as the hydrological cycle.....it is the study of the earth's waters, the scientific process of the circulation, di tribution, use and properties of water on earth and in the atmosphere. the hydrological cycle is part of the drainage basin system which comprises of inputs (precipitation),flows.stores and outputs (eveporation and evepotranspiration). As the water reaches the earth it comes in the form of nay type of precipitation e.g rain, hail, snow etc. However rainfall is the most common type so we'll use rainfall as an example.

rainfall reaching the earth is input. the water will pass through a series of flows (procedures of water flow), examples of flows are stem flow, throughflow, through fall, surface run off,infiltration...etc. they all eventually lead to the water reaching the surface of the eart.

when the water has reached the surface of the earth it either infiltrates or flows from the surface to a water body....depending on the permeability of the surface and the rainfall intensity. infiltration is the penetration of water through the surface pores to the underlying rock and soil layers.

if the soil infiltrates it will go through a constant movement called percolation until it reaches the groundwater storage.ground water storage is one of the examples of storages in the system. other examples are interception storage, surface moisture storage...these two storages is when water is stored on vegetation (leaves) and on the earth's surface if the surface is not penetratable....then from there it will flow to a water body by the process called base flow.........there is usually a lateral gravity pull of water to a water body.

when the water reaches the waterbody...this is where it goes back to the atmosphere by the process known as evaporation, this is the loss of water directly from the waterbody to the atmosphere......water will also evepotranspirate from the surface and from vegetation wehre it was tored back to the atmosphere! this is output. the water the has left the system is in vapour form and so when it reaches the atmospere..basically when it reaches dew point....it will condense and form clouds and if the droplets are heavy enough they will fall as rainfall....the the whole procss repeats itself...it is a continuous cycle.

and that's how water is continually renewed!
