Presuming this to be a WWII ETO question. A German soldier could surrender on the western front. He might perish if he tried that on the eastern front. The western front was fought by basically the same breed of men; the eastern front was a war between the Occidental/Westerner (Germans) and the Oriental/Easterner (Russians)...There was NO MERCY between those two!
I don't know about ww1 but in ww2. As a German, you advance into Russia give no mercy. You are using the blitzkrieg tactic, Basically you are running and shooting. Your doing pretty good so far you are advancing. Alot of bombing the cities OH NO Im out of ammunition you need to get some supplies. OH NO i out ran them. Then the Russians shooting at you. your running for your life then take position. Months later it becomes colder and colder its snowing its winter. i only have a long sleeve shirt and pants no jacket. i am cold. The Russians have jackets and are warm. They are coming. too cold to even pull my trigger. you retreat. your friends decided to surrender. they die. suddenly you are the losing the war.
The war on the eastern front was more deadly and between the germans and the russians, millions of people died whiles on the western front, their was not much blood involved
What are the Eastern and Western fronts? Who fought against whom in those areas? What are the Eastern and Western fronts? Who fought against whom in those areas? What are the Eastern and Western fronts? Who fought against whom in those areas?
The Eastern Front had trenches like the Western Front, but it was so large that the fighting was more mobilised, especially in Ukraine. German Uhlans and Ukranian/Russian cavalry were able to move around and fight each other.
The fighting was more vicious than on any other front other than in the Pacific .
This refers to the front from the viewpoint of Germany. The Western front would be on the French side. The Eastern Front would be the fighting against Russia. Hitler had feared a 2-front war. So he conquered France and then turned on Russia. This was his downfall.
During a war, a "front" is a place where armies are fighting battles. In World War I, most of the major battles were in Europe. So in World War I, "Western Front" refers to the front in the western portion of Europe- it was mainly in northern France, where Germany had invaded. The "Eastern Front" was in Eastern Europe, primarily around the borders between Russia and Germany/Austria-Hungary.

Most of the fighting in the western front was fought in the northern france and Belgium because of the german's schlieffen plan which involved the invasion of belgium there was no fighting on german soil but on the eastern front there was the battle of Tannenberg which was in east Prussia (now known as the eastern part Poland) but if you are talking about the western from then no.
eastern front
The Western Front in WWI was located in France and Belgium, stretching from the North Sea to the Swiss border. The Eastern Front was located in Eastern Europe, primarily in present-day Poland, Ukraine, and Russia.
