Typically the "flap" or more commonly called, the deflector is as wide as the plow itself. They tend to be 6 to 8 inches long, and roughly 3/8" thick for most plows. Its purpose to to prevent snow from spilling over the lip of the plow, which keeps it off the vehicles windsheild.

No, to have snow on top (permanently) the height of the mountain must exceed that of the snow line for the particular latitude at which the mountain is located (the snow line is higher at the equator than it is at the poles). Mountains that do not reach this height are not permanently snow capped (they may have snow on in winter months).
because it is all snow,
Because it is by the equator which makes the reigion of Kenya too hot for it to snow. Actually it CAN snow in Kenya and does around Mount Kenya, an extinct volcano 5,199 metres (17,057 ft) tall. The mountain has snow on its summit and seven glaciers
'Snow hardener' does exactly what it says: It hardens snow. Well really, it makes snow more compact. When you are skiing, you dont want soft snow otherwise that will stop your skis by swamping them, and causing lots of friction. What you want is compact snow, so that your skis can go on top of the snow rather than sink in. Snow hardener is just a catalyst for making the snow more compact so that people skiing can ski on the slopes.
They first use a big plow to remove the layer of snow & rocks, then they put a layer of salt on top of the road, which will remove the last bit of snow and will also keep it snow clean for a while.
Vangelis-Conquest of Paradise There is another piece of music after Hammond loses his wedding ring ontop of the snow plough, any ideas what that might be?
