Unless you overfill the engine by an extreme amount, you will not notice any difference in how a motor runs which is overfilled a minor amount, as compared to a motor that has a correct amount of oil.
The true danger of overfilling an engine occurs when the oil level reaches the point where the crankshaft hits the engine oil and beats air into the oil. This creates foamy engine oil which does a very poor job of lubricating the engine.
(think of an egg beater)
That's when the engine damage can occur.
Drain out the excess oil and hope you did no damage. Unless you overfilled it by more than 1 quart you more than likely did not damage at all.
YES
depends on what ratio you run it on. I run mine in 35:1 which means when I put 5liters of petrol in I put 140mL on oil in.
The answer to this depends on what kind of oil you are talking about. If you put a heavier weight oil (like 5 weight) in your car instead of say,30 weight, it will cause your car to act sluggish in the cold weather because the oil is thicker. If you put a lighter weight (30 weight ) in a vehicle that needs a heavier oil, the car will still run but not as well as using the correct type of oil. If you put transmission oil in your car's engine oil pan by mistake; you should empty out the oil pan immediately (when the oil and car are cold) and flush it or refill it with the correct oil as soon as you have realized it was the wrong oil.
No, but it helps. Warm oil flows out much more easily.
Keep oil at the proper level and it may run forever Keep oil at the proper level and it may run forever Keep oil at the proper level and it may run forever
Drain the engine oil, change the oil filter and put in the required amount of oil, run engine, shut engine off, then make a mark on the dipstick indicating the full line for future reference.
If you put in to much oil it will smoke really bad, or will not run. If not enough oil you will damage motor.
you can use as much as you like as it makes the car run cooler
You could use vegetable oil to run your car IF it is a diesel. It is not necessarily greener than diesel fuel due to the energy used to produce and transport the vegetable oil.
Change your oil, then run the car BRIEFLY (about 30 seconds), then change oil and oil filter again. Good luck.
It should be fine, but you will need to drain the oil out to the correct level on the dipstick.
