Barring unforeseen collisions with asteroids or other space objects (which in any event would not actually "destroy the planet"), the Earth will likely be slowly vaporized by the expansion of the Sun into a red giant. This process will affect the Earth within the next 500 to 900 million years or so, as temperatures will increase beyond the tolerances of terrestrial life. As the Sun expands, planetary orbits will increase, but insufficiently to avoid tidal reactions and solar radiation that will destroy at least the four innermost planets of the solar system.
I will end when we use up all our oil and natral resorces and we go into a frenzy and kill echother.

∙ 6y agoWell the Earth will live forever. The end is about Jesus destroying the bad people on Earth. So all we have to do is continue to serve God so that we can live forever in a new paradise.

Science estimates that if mankind does not destroy itself, or if the Earth doesn't "shake" itself off to rid itself of its parasitic inhabitants, then the earth will probably exist for about 5 billion+- before the sun, in its dying throes, absorbs all the planets to beyond Mars obliterating them. And at about that same time it is estimated that the galaxy Andromeda will collide with our Milky Way galaxy. That cannot be good for any and all in either galaxy, should life exist outside our solar system.

No one really knows when or how the world will end. With that in mind, you need to make the most of every day that you have on this earth. Be the best you can be, don't treat others badly, take nothing for granted, plan your life such as education, financial planning, etc. the best that you can and that's really all that you can do. In other words, do your best every day to be the best that you can be. Outside of that, everything is out of your control.

∙ 12y agoIn the first place the world is not going to end in 2012, as no one realy knows but god. yes in 2011 on September the 11th. I have done some scientific research and all 0-10 year olds will die first shortly after the 11-18 year olds and the 18-25 all the older people will live because there immune system will be ready for the gas to pour out the sun.

It is possible but not certain. Now Why would they make a specific date for 'The End of the World'? Well that is when the Mayan Calendar ends. To be honest, most likely the world will not end. =) So young kids can live their life. Plus, scientists predicted that 1999, and 2000 was the end of the world and we are still living. Most likely we will not die on 12-21-12. =D
