well i think if you use soda it will take longer that was my thought then when i did it the plant didnt grow it died because the soda has lots of suger and it has too much that the plant couldnt hold it any longer so thats what i think. My only thing is that i have a science test coming up soon and i really really want to do this so i did and it didnt work maybe before posting you should try it that might give you a idea..........
