Addiction is a lifelong disease that can only be treated & has no "cure." 93% of addicts who go to treatment will relapse. The reality is that there's no cure for methamphetamine addiction or addiction to any drug or alcohol. There are only a variety of treatments. The most effective treatments are behavioral therapies & medication treatments to ease withdrawal symptoms.
It can make you addicted
Dr. William Glasser
You don't get addicted from the trying. Your body initially rejects the smoke. You cough and gag telling you it's no good. However peer pressure or thinking it's cool gets you to acquire the taste by taking small puffs and gradually increasing their size. That's when the nicotine takes over and the addiction becomes reality.
People become addicted to opiates because of the euphoric high that they give off. In my opinion coming off or as it is more commonly known withdrawing off of it is the easy part, coping with life in a reality sense is the unfortunate inevitability. whatever the reason may be, if your lonely, if someone you love has passed away, if you fall into depression. there are many different reasons as is to why. i myself am addicted to opiates so i can relate to many struggling with addiction. i wake up in the morning so angry and depressed because i am lonely. addiction is a serious disease i recommend counseling also suboxone helps i think we all just need to feel love. God bless you all to are addicted and i pray that you dig deep within yourselves to uncover the mask and truly find happiness, because the sad truth is that continuing on this path only leads to more pain and suffering i have faith in you all fighting addiction is easy if you want to. Good Luck
It depends. If you are asking about physical dependence, it depends on the drug. Opiates (OxyContin, Vicodin, Heroin) can take 3 days to a week to get physically dependent on. Benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax, Klonopin) can take 1 week-1 month. But, it depends on how frequently you are taking the drug. Anyone can get physically addicted to a drug if they take it long enough, but in reality it depends on WHY you are taking that drug and what compels you to use it that can make you a drug addict. Physical dependence and drug addiction are two different things. It can also have a lot to do with genes and brain and body chemistry. Drug addiction is a specific disease.
In "Lose Now Pay Later" by Carol Farley, the writer presents the problem of individuals becoming addicted to a technology called the Time Machine, which allows them to experience virtual reality. The story explores the negative consequences of this addiction, including isolation, loss of touch with reality, and potential harm to physical health. Ultimately, the story raises questions about the trade-offs between escaping reality and facing life's challenges directly.
People want to escape reality, because reality is too painful or nightmarish to emotionally/physically/mentally deal with in a functional way. There are various specific reasons as to *why* each person wants this escape, whether it is escape from an unhealthy relationship, from a responsibility, from memories, or from unresolved conflict and grief from one's family of origin. Sometimes a temporary escape from reality is healthy, although there is a risk of addiction (i.e. drugs) or destruction (i.e. suicide) to the method of escape from reality. Addiction and death provoke a cycle of painful reality to those around the person wanting to escape reality. Therefore, knowing that escape is only temporary is imparative to everyone's health.

The main difference between Reality Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) lies in their approach to addressing mental health issues. Reality Therapy focuses on helping individuals take responsibility for their behavior and make choices that lead to personal growth. On the other hand, REBT emphasizes identifying and changing irrational beliefs that contribute to emotional distress.
