I wouldn't recommend a salty lubricant(rust), but a little anti-freeze in a squirt bottle to lube up the hinges and latch might do the trick...anti-freeze is slippery S#$T :) also everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional manual available...in the reference section, you'll have to make copies of the important sections...good luck :)
