The Declaration of Independence is basically a document that the committee of five wrote to go against King George III. It was mainly about winning their rights, but than turned into a war for independence, which we came out winning. The writer was Thomas Jefferson, though he did not contribute to the idea of the Declaration, rather he took snippets from other peoples writing and formed this document.
If you were in the colonists position, wouldn't you do this? Like, comeon! This man (King George III) was making you pay for things, do things, that had no profit to you!
