There is no conversion of .jpg to .doc at this time. However, if you wish to insert the picture, remember what folder you saved the picture to and what you named it, then insert it.

If you want the picture as a background to the word document, you'll have to go to Format + Background + Fill Effects. Go to Picture. Select picture.

If you wish to edit the picture, unless you have some professional-grade software, or don't mind doing a sloppy job on MS Paint, I do not believe it can be done.

What are the file formats when scaning a file?

This depends on the scanner you are using. The most common seems to be JPEG (which stand for Joint Photographic Experts Group). This can be either or .jpg .jpeg, but .jpg is usually used. PDF (.pdf or .pdf0) is also a somewhat common format for scanned documents.

How do you convert a scanned Adobe document into JPG format for free and without hassle?

The professional version of Adobe Acrobat allows you to save as or export to a jpeg file. The free version of Acrobat Reader does not have this functionality. A work around may be to place or import the Adobe file into a word processing program and then save as or export the Word file as a jpeg. The document can also be re-scanned as a jpeg file for a third option. If the document has text I would not recommend a jpeg file for anything other than viewing on a monitor.

Can you change a picture from bmp to a JPEG?

Yes you can open the file with a progam then save it again with the jpeg file extention. When you save (Windows) there will be a drop down list of the file extentions that the file can be saved as or you can change the file extention manually by typing .jpeg. bare in mind some applications you may not be able to save as a jpeg but many generic apps can. you may loose some picture quality though!
