Evacuate if possible. If you can't, get away from the flowing magma. Especially if you are downhill from it. If you get directly hit by lava there is a guarantee your not going to survive. If you live in the US, don't move to a state such as Alaska, Hawaii, or anywhere near Yellowstone National Park, there are volcanoes in all those places.

It's simple to survive any volcanic eruption; be somewhere else when it happens. For pyroclastic volcanoes like Vesuvius, hopefully many miles away.
Volcanic eruption. It must be more painful because you literraly melt.
No one can survive a volcanic eruption unless they find someway to get out of the area as fast and as soon as possible. No one has known to be able to survive a volcano, not in this day and age.
The worst eruption of Santorini ocurred some time between 1500 and 1700 BC. Realtively little is known about the eruption as few records survive from this time. What is known is that the erumption was enormous, likely 100 times larger than the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. A massive quantity of ash was pumped into the atmosphere, likely blanketing much of the Mediterranean. As the eruption drained the magma chamber, much of the island collapsed into the ocean, generating massive tsunamis.

No
They both can survive from a volcanic eruption
Be elsewhere. Obviously!

No-one knows - there was no records found

The best way to survive a pyroclastic eruption is to get far from the volcano, beyond the reach of pyroclastic flows. Stay away from stream channels to avoid mudflows. If you experience heavy ashfall, breath through a wet rag.
Yes, in fact, most people did survive; roughly about 2,000 people died as a result of the eruption. If no one did, then we would know nothing of the eruption. Pliny the Younger, a senator of his day, was an eye witness.
Volcanic eruption can be classified mainly based on the name of the volcano. They are Surtseyan eruption, Plinian eruption, Vulcanian eruption, Strombolian eruption and Hawaiian eruption.
