It sounds like it might be off the track inside the door. You'll have to take the panels off the door to access the motor and slide to verify. The motor could also be bad. Either way, you have to pull the panels off to find out. Used motors sell relatively cheap on e-bay.
I actually managed to replace the motors on both the rear doors on mine without taking the entire doors apart (removing the upper frame), but you might want to buy a Haynes manual and follow the instructions in it for yours.

The nut inside the moter housing could be broken. Also, the plastic guides on the pull down track could be brittle and broken. I just replaced my moter housing, guides and nut and the moter works fine now.

common probem with the 190e class vehicles. he problem is he motor and regulator assembly. find a used one in the wrecking yard and replace the complete assembly with cable regulator and motor. good luck
