Hi there here in the UK u can leave home without parental consent at 18 but leave home to uni at 16 and live in student houses but I been told you can move out from your parental home with consent at 17 in the UK but in the states I thought the age u can a drink is the age u cam leave so I have been told I alsway thought and seen in the states legal for a adult is 21 as have stated but I can't see why u can't leave home at 18 though with your parental consent. But if you are mentaly and beening nipulated by your step dad or being treatend as you have stated then maybe you need outside advice how to deal with it but I would get a help line number like we have here you can talk to them on the phone or e mail them you can say anything to these people and would not get judged at all or asked award questions ether they are trined to deal with all sorts of scenarios so what ever you say it wouldn't supprise them. But if you feel scared or treatend by him in any way or you have been hit because of this situation then I I would go to the police or authoritys to help you I have had a situation with someone outside the family dealing with the police they were great with me they did not judge or comment they might say things you might not expect but normally are allowed to stop the conservation until you are ready to talk I would take a best friends mom or a very close friend for morial support you don't have to go in alone to see anyone so don't ever feel obligated to do or say anything only if you feel overthreated or scared in anyway I would act on it. In the UK we have safe houses for everywalk of life anything from abuse to being raped being ether sex to familys leavig ther dad or mum from hitting them anymore but you can leave anytime there day or night but normally you have to sign a form stating you know your rights, also on the form you sign to say you will never disclose the safe house to anyone outside of it. Now looking on from your story I think you need professional advice from somebody of what to do you could try a US helpline for adults in distress but I would ether e mail them in secret or go to a phone box to phone them or go to a neuteral friends house to use their phone I wouldn't worry about the call being on the bill because it will as withheld number and on the written bill it look like a insuranse company that u would phone normally but that is what happens in the UK I wouldn't think its much of a different system to the UK I think I have had a similar situations you are not alone I cant tell you what is right or wrong thing for you to do but if you feel moe scared than normal get professional help of how to deal with the difficult situation My thought are with you Dan from the UK

In most states, you may legally move out at 18 without parental permission. However, if your stepdad owns the car and other possessions he gave you, he has the right to take them back if you move out. Consider discussing your plans with him and try to reach a mutually acceptable arrangement.

Who chooses members of the House of Representatives?

The members of the House of Representatives vote to select the Speaker.

Is the senate the upper house or lower house?

The lower house is usually the House of Representatives. When a bill is first introduced, read by everyone in the house and placed on the agenda for the next session, the bill is then debated, scrutinized and requesting for amendments in the lower house. When the bill is accepted through the House of Representatives (lower house), the bill is then passed on to the upper house (Senate House) and further debated upon. If the majority of seats in the Senate House belongs to the Government Party, the bill can be easily passed through. If the majority of seats belongs to the Opposition, the passing of the bill might get complicated. The debating of passing the bill is pursued and voted upon. If the bill needs amendments, it'll be passed back to the lower house and the entire process is repeated until the bill is passed to both the houses (bicameral legislature) Easy to say, the lower house is where the Prime Minister lives and where most the heat begins, and the upper house has the authority to refuse the bill and knock it back.
