A furry is a person with an interest in anthropomorphics and sometimes fursuiting as well. Some associate the fandom with their sex life, but most don't.

If she's your girlfriend, you've already become close. So basically, telling her you're a furry is as simple as saying, "There's something you need to know about me, and I hope it won't freak you out. I'm a furry." Her response will fall into one of three general categories: "What's a furry?" "Eeew, that's gross! "Great! What do you want to do?" Good luck!
How do you know if you are a Furry?
You're really only a furry if you think you are. There is not concrete way to determine that you are a furry. Some would say that if you fursuit/draw/look at etc. you are furry. But, I find that that's a little... extreme. It's like telling someone, "You ARE part of the anime fandom, deal with it!" It just doesn't work. As a general rule of thumb, if you believe you are a furry for ANY reason, then chances are you probably are one. dont be afraid to speak to other furries and try to connect, we are a generally open group and love more people to snuggle with ^-^

It depends on your definition. If you like anthropomorphics, have a fursuit, have a fursona, and go to Anthrocon, but don't call yourself furry, you can't be called one. If all you do is bark like a dog, but you want to be considered a furry you can be.
