You can have a little spotting and still be pregnant. I found this out when something similar happened to me - I looked up some useful sites re pregnancy. I think it has something to do with changes to the cervix. It shouldn't go on for many days though.

Yes, I have. I was 7 weeks and 5 days pregnant when that started. I was told by my doctor that it was likely old blood that was being discarded and that it was nothing to worry about. In my heart this didn't feel right so I requested a sonogram. Sadly, the sonogram revealed that the pregnancy failed (there was no heart beat). So, for me, the spotting and mucus which was accompanied by mild cramping was a sign that my uterus was trying to abort the pregnancy.

It could be impantation spotting. If you had sex within a day of the spotting starting it could be from the cervix. However if it is changing to red you need to go to see a doctor asap, and make sure your not having a miscarriage. When I was first pregnant with my baby I had spotting without sex and it was from implantation but it was brown blood which is old blood. Red blood is fresh blood!! Good luck.
