Yes, an English language version of Pokémon White can be played on a Japanese-bought Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite however the English language version cannot be played on the Japanese-bought systems of the Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DSi XL and the Nintendo 3DS because the DSi and 3DS systems all feature region blocking features for games that have DSi or 3DS enhancements.

No. Wii consoles are locked by region and can only play games bought in the same region as the console. Games from the US and Europe cannot legally be played on a Japanese console.

They could be Japanese OR Chinese. Many Japanese kanji(the symbols) were adapted from Chinese. There is no way to tell the difference unless you know that the symbols are from one language or another. You could always check with the person you bought them from--maybe they'd know. You can also buy a Japanese-English dictionary and see if the translation in it makes any sense. If it doesn't, try a Chinese-English dictionary. If you have a camera, you can take a picture of the glasses and post it on a question forum somewhere too.
