You can go to a notary station with the signed title, and talk to an employee about putting it in your name. Without the original owner being present, it will be harder to transfer the title and will take a longer amount of time. They will most likely try to contact her, and will also run the VIN number to make sure the car is not reported stolen or anything like that. If all checks out okay then they should be able to transfer the title. If you have a bill of sale, take it with you to the Notary station.
Your best bet is really to try and locate the original owner and transfer the title the right way, but be prepared to pay a sales tax along with a registration fee.
You really should never buy a car without a title, unless you don't plan on driving it on public roads. Without a title with your name on it, you can't prove to anyone that the cars yours
If the title is signed by both parties it is yours. Most states do not require them to be notorized. Otherwise just make time to get it down if needed. Some cars are sold with titles signed and owners later are deceased but the car can still have title transferred.
call where ever you get your license plates at and they can tell you, they will give you a paper and you will have to have the vehicle inspected, take the paper back to them notorized, then you will get a title
I don't know about all states but in Louisiana a title must be notorized and signed by buyer and seller before it can be registered. Call your local department of motor vehicles for info.
The bill of sale would be the receipt from the pawn shop where you purchased the motorcycle. You fill in the buyer info on the title.
Who ever signed the pay day loan contract owes the money. You bought the car for the friend so the title should have your name on it until such time as you have been paid for the car and you sign over the title to the person buying it from you.
I had my car recently taken from me after i paid for it, the dude signed the title but paid the reg after i bought it. He and i went through court and i need to find him. Here is the plate # 6b14705. And the VIN # is 1FTRX18W1XKB67130
If the bond is paid, why is the title not released to the owner of the car? If the owner of the car forfeited the title by skipping out, and another person came and bought that title by paying the bond, then yes, another person can transfer the title to their name ... because they bought it by paying off your bond.
file for a lost title.
First things first make sure that the title is in the sellers name and that it is a legal title with no lien holder. Second you will need to go down to the tag agency and have the title signed there so they can witness it or the seller can have it notorized either way will be suffiecient. Next it take to the tag office if you are not there already and they will finsh the process for you and may receive it there or in the mail.
Strictly legal, no you can't, but I don't know a single cop who would ticket you for it. Just take the title with you, and if it's been signed the day you bought it, no one is going to bother you. -Jesse
Visit your local County Court Clerk. They can advise you on what if anything you can do.
Yes, it sure is. Just go to the city police station naked and they will change the title.
