I crank the engine 3 to 4 times before its start..?so what is the problem of my car Dodge Caravan 2001...
Need a lot more detail than this, such as type of engine, circumstances this happens under, whether or not the starter cranks at all the first three or four times, etc.
starter going out or poor voltage
I have an '03 EB with this issue and was told my fuel pump is going out. It can't build enough pressure quick enough to start the truck right away. I used to have to crank the heck out of it for 30 seconds before it started, but it was suggested I just turn the key from off to on (not start) about two or three times then crank it over and it starts just fine every time. HTH
year make and model? take a plug out and crank the engine several times assuming it will not start. put in a new plug and crank the engine several times again. remove the new plug and see if the plug is wet or smells like fuel if so you are getting fuel to the cylinder if not you may hve an injection problem.
Possible time for changing of the timing belt which is probably at 60-70K miles range. Do a check on that before it causes you more pain when you are stranded at the highway.
Take it to the garage... lol :)<THIS ANSWER WAS NO HELP
I had the same issue. I pulled the carb out and cleaned it. It was full of sludge from the gas. I had to clean it 3 times before I could get it to start.
Charge or replace the battery, put some fresh gasoline in the tank and check fluid levels. Crank engine over with the key in ten second intervals pausing briefly to pump the gas peddle to prime engine. After doing this for three to four times the engine should start and run.
The fuel pump only runs for a couple seconds after the initial start attempt, then shuts off. Crank the engine for a few seconds. Then turn it off and then do it again for a few more seconds. Do this several times in order to get the fuel to the engine. After a few attempts, the engine should start.. Hope this helps...
it would be the best to buy a new starter
A lot depends how you stored the bike in the first place. First, make sure the battery is fully charged. Remove the spark plugs and shoot a little oil in the holes. With the plugs out, crank the engine a few times. This will ensure that the rings are not ceased. Was the fuel treated before ? If not, then with the plugs back in, just crank the engine till the fuel pressure builds up, and, if the carb's are not gummed up, the engine should start. If you feel that the fuel is too old, then drain the tank as much as possible, change the filter, and drain the carb's before you try and start it. Add fresh fuel and then start it up.Will take a few cranks to build up the fuel pressure.
It can be a couple of different things. The most common are. Starter- if it doesn't crank or start - if it cranks and doesn't start crank sensor fuel pump/regulator camshaft sensor fault coil pack (depends on vehicle)
The owners manul says......." with engine off, put key in ignition , turn to ON (do not crank over) push accelerator completely to the floor 5 times, turn off key. Start engine, Service Engine light should go off after a few seconds."
