You should sit down with your niece and tell her that you are going out with him. Say it sweet and sincerely, and apologize to her, because you will most likely make her very upset. She'll be mad, but you have to tell her that it's just a boy, and your friendship with her shouldn't be ruined just because of one boy.
You shouldn't break up with your boyfriend. You may feel like you should for your niece's sake, but don't. A positive thing to say to your niece would be, "Hey, when me and my boyfriend break up, he's all yours!". That might get her to smile.
