I had two dogs one recently died what should i do to make sure the other one is comfortable without her?

I once had a litter of terriers 8 to be exact. they were all so precious and i didn't want to sell them at all but i had to. I tried to sell them one day but when i was done one of them wasn't bought so i decided to keep it. as they grew they never fought they were like friends and they were protective of each other and me. there names were Miley, Lilly and Champ. they were all ways active with each other and loved to play not to mention they put themselves on YouTube about 5 times. they were all great dogsand they did what i expected. One morning i woke up and didn't find Lilly with the other 2. i went outside and found Lilly on her side with lots of bite marks and i also saw that the gate looked like a dog jumped from it. Lilly was in bad condition so i had to take her to the vet. i came home with only a leash in my hand by 5:30. The vet had to put Lilly down. Miley and Champ noticed that when i came home. the next week they both weren't as active as they were and they hardly ate there food. but when i bought another terrier at the mall Miley and Champ were nothing but happy. i named the Little newcomer Molly. Miley and Champ were back to normal and they did everything they used to do before Lilly died. so your answer is to buy another dog.
