very well could be a engine control relay/motor shutdown relay...however everthing oil, fuel and spark related are made to work together. so if the right thing goes out(ecm fuse to injector port, starter,or any moving/firing componet)then one thing COULD bring down the whole system and take out a few others with it by creating more stress on that part(most common the battery, fuel filter clogged from trash at the pump in tank, and multiple fuses and relays)to answer your question,i would start with the basics first...check elec points like fuses and sensors, then oil pump and distributer, etc.(process of elimination)any questions, you are anybody can e-mail me at dwhitfield87@AOL.com...or you can come to my work and ask for dan w. , at Jeff gord cheverlet, wilmington,North Carolina.
First thing: Are you sure you have fuel? Your gauge could be stuck in full or 1/2 full etc. Your fuel filter could be blocked. Have you checked to see if you are not getting fuel to engine-check with a fuel pressure gauge & check for broke gas line anywhere from tank to engine.
Gas gauge stuck or not working & you are out of fuel. Filter plugged up. gas line broke or bent-check for a gas leak
You could try a catalytic converter
the transmission could be, and most likely is slipping
my 96 dodge Dakota wont idle when engine is warm and i changed idle air controle valve what else could be wrong
There are many reasons why an engine will sputter when revved. There may not be enough fuel getting to the engine, there may not be enough electricity getting through the car, or the computer could be going out.
change the engine
check and see if the window lock is on.
If a car engine stalls when turning, there could be a problem with the power steering pump. There could also be an issue with an emissions control device.
I would suspect that if it is getting fuel and not starting it would be that it is not getting any spark. If you find that it is not getting spark you could check: Ignition module Crank position sensor Engine control module Associated wiring and connectors
Check the Idle Air Control. It might need cleaning. Check the Throttle Position Sensor. It might need adjustment or replacement.
bad spark module(s),but likely engine control module
