I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport Only the highest setting on my ac heat works to blow air sometimes it starts to blow cool air and shut off after heat has been on for long time any idea whats broke?

Check the bulkhead fitting on the firewall where the electrical feeds into the blower motor. It's a $2 part that is molded to the blower motor on your system. If it is loose or broken, you have to by a whole new, few hundred dollar, blower motor because that part is not replacable by itself. It happened to me on my '01 Sport, which i assume is very similar. The symptoms were all the same, mine even shut off at random intervals. However, if you are reasonably saavy, you can rig it up to maintain this connection to get you through until you feel like you have to replace it. !

the best way to set the idle mixture screw is with a gas analyzer. setting the mixture to 14:1. if you dont have one use a vacuum gage and set for the highest vacuum. If you dont have one of them then turn the screw in til the engine starts to stumble. then turn the screw out til the engine starts to stumble. turn the screw back in half the distance. that will be your best setting. Any leaner and the engine wont start, any richer and the engine will flood.
