The trans computer defaults to 2nd gear when it detects a malfunction and sets a code. You need to have the system checked for codes.
I'd be suspicious of the starter. I don't THINK an intrepid has a separate starter solenoid, if it does, that could be it too.
There is a faulty fuse that goes to the interior lights. There could also be a short in the wiring that leads to the lights.
If all the dash warning lights are illuminated, you probably have more problems than not getting any heat. The only time all the warning lights come on at once is just before starting the engine, as a lamp check.
If you live in the United States, your Intrepid will not have running lights. If your car is from Canada however, it will. Either way, the Daytime Running Light module is in the relay box under the hood, on the right hand side
Sounds like a very weak battery.
check fuses
This may be a problem with the immobilizer, the engine isn't disonnecting the immobilizer from the engine, i.e. stopping the engine from being started.
If the brake lights stay on when the car is not running on most vehicles, including the 1994 Dodge Intrepid, there is probably a short somewhere in the wiring to the brake lights. The first place to investigate this problem would be the wires along the firewall that control the brake lights. Also, check the brake light switch above the brake pedal.
festival of lights, it started when the Hindi god ram returned to the city and the people light candels to light the way so that he could find the city. and to celibraity his return
It is normal if other lights come on at the same time. All of the reminder/warning lights should come on when ignition is in idle (key's in ignition, but the car is not running)
Be it three phase or single phase, larger motors should be started with a magnetic contactor.
They are supposed to turn on when the engine is started and the emergency brake is released , at least that is the way it is on my 1995 Ford Explorer
