Valve clearance of Volvo f12, are set using a feeler gauge on the lash adjuster.
Depending on year, it might not have one... one of many flaws in Volvo's designs, IMO.
Wiring or sender unit in the tank.
Try hitting the dashboard directly above the fuel gauge. A nice thump might release a gauge one a Volvo.
Could be a bad thermosat. The smoke could be from where you dripped oil onto the engine.

Test with a mechanical gauge to accurately detemine oil pressure Could just be a defective oil pressure sensor

Was the volt gauge working? If it showed no response when driving then the charge/ign fuse could be blown and you were running off battery power till it ran down.
It goes up while driving and down when you're idle....that's normal
Usually the gauge in on the dashboard with all the other gauges. That way you can read it while driving.
at the beginning it will be cold, but it will warm up as you start driving
