Well firstly I'd just like to question your decision on breeding your guinea pig. There are already hundreds of piggies without homes because so many people breed them, so if I were you I wouldn't introduce any more.
If you are still really want to breed your guinea pig, and you are breeding your guinea pig for the first time, she needs to be young. I don't know the exact ages, you will need to research this, but the best age to breed a female guinea pig is and about 12 weeks old (I THINK). You should not breed them any younger than 6 weeks or any older than about a year. If your guinea pig is too old to breed for the first time (over a year old) it will be painful for her as the pelvic bones will have grown to be solid and she will struggle whilst giving birth.
Also, your female guinea pig should be given extra food whilst pregnant and for a week or two after her babies are born (at which point the father should be long separated). She may also need extra vitamin C and calcium whilst feeding her babies. You should try and disturb her as little as possible, but give her a quick check regularly to make sure everything is okay.
When your female guinea is nearly due to give birth, take her off of straw, hay or woodshavings, etc because these can make her 'bits' irritated. She should have fleece bedding and have a nice and cosy, private dwelling where she can relax and give birth when the time comes.
I hope this helps, but please remember my first point, that there is a lot of guinea pigs with out homes out there !
no i dont think so
Yes, I would say that eight weeks is a bit too young to start breeding your guinea pig. I would suggest waiting until your guinea pig is about four months old to start the breeding process. Otherwise, if you start breeding your guinea pig too early, there are multiple complications that could arrise that might affect the health of the mother of fetus(s).
You can't breed it if there is not another animal for it to breed with.
Technically yes, breeding the two together however poses serious harm to both the guinea pig and the rat and is in fact against the law in some states.
you can either breed two mop guinea pigs (or get guinea pigs that have mop in their blood) or buy one
Mammals.
You breed them of course! Baby guinea pigs are called pups.
no Guinea pigs are domesticated and easy to breed so their is no threat of extinction
