I have a scooby wrx 98 Japanese import--runs fine. This morning the engine just cut off. The battery is fine checked the timing belt that's pretty new Does anyone know what could be wrong?
If the engine turns but won't start: 1) check the gage fuse, if the fuse is blown sometimes the gas gage will read 1/4 full and will actualy be empty! 2) when you turn the key to on (NOT START) you should hear the fuel pump "groulling" (pumping) for 1 to 2 seconds. if you don't hear this then the: A) fuel pump relay or B) fuel pump is bad. i had a similar problem on my 95 import now and again it would cut out or wouldnt start, the management light dint show but when checked it was the crank sesor.

As long as that battery has been out of routine service [charge/discharge cycling] it is probable that the sulphating has ruined the battery. Besides, if the battery was a few years old when the vehicle…
